The Department of Costume Design and Fashion (CDF) at BACAS is well recognized in academic circles.
The Bharathiar University syllabus for this course was framed in consultation with the CDF department
of BACAS. The department has experienced faculty members and state-of-the-art laboratories equipped
with the latest technology. B.Sc. Costume Design & Fashion is a three-year degree programme
comprising six semesters.
Special Features
Students of the CDF Department have excellent opportunities to participate in and represent BACAS in
fashion shows and designer contests. The department has received wide media coverage for its events
such as “Fashion Statement in Khadi” and “Designer Quest”, a state-level designer contest.
Workshops, seminars, and industrial visits are regularly organized, and the department has produced
University rank holders.
Students are encouraged and supported to participate in designer contests and fashion shows. Notable
achievements include winning 3rd place in the India Design Contest 2016 and receiving
the winner’s award at The International Coir Fashion Show.
Internship
Students are required to complete a 15-day internship in a garment export unit or processing unit
as part of the programme.

- Signed an MoU with Apparel Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMH SSC)
on 17th March 2022. AMH SSC works under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship,
Government of India.
