B.A. English Literature

Literature is a permanent expression of words, thoughts, feelings, and ideas about life and the world.
It holds a mirror up to nature, develops originality, and makes one conscious of moral values.
Literature provides a deep understanding of how human character and emotions are influenced by natural
surroundings and helps an individual grow into a well-rounded, tolerant, understanding, and wise person.

B.A. English Literature (B.A., Eng.) is a three-year degree programme comprising
six semesters.

Department Activities

The Department of English inaugurated “Reflections” – The English Literary and Debating Association
on 25.08.2023. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. A. Hazel Verbina,
Assistant Professor of English, Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore.
The programme included invocation by the Department Choir, welcome address by the Association In-Charge,
felicitation of the Chief Guest, installation of office bearers for the academic year 2023–2024,
and concluded with the National Anthem.

On 08.09.2023, the association commemorated International Literacy Day by
conducting an inter-department poster design competition on the theme
“Promoting Literacy for a World in Transition: Building the Foundation for Sustainable and Peaceful Societies.”

On 19.09.2023, World Ozone Day was observed with an inter-department essay
writing competition on the theme “Fixing the Ozone Layer and Reducing Climate Change.”
